French Onion Soup with Gruyere Toast

This classic recipe for French Onion Soup with Gruyere Toast is the perfect side dish to any meal or main dish for a cold night.

French Onion Soup

It’s my sister’s birthday!!!! And she’s pretty much Smile Sandwich’s #1 fan so I just have to give her a shout out. She’ll probably read this when she’s home from her romantic California weekend trip her boyfriend planned for her, and although that’s nice, I think a blog shout out is even nicer. 😉 Well, at least I tried. And I got her the best gift ever. I’ll tell you after I give it to her.

Anyhoot, does everyone love French Onion Soup as much as me? It’s just one of those classic soups that’s always fun to order at restaurants because it comes in a fancy bowl with like an inch of cheese on top.

My best friend from high school used to order it and JUST eat the cheese. Teehee. I won’t judge if you do that as well.

French Onion Soup

This class recipe for French Onion Soup with Gruyere Toast is super simple to make and is the perfect appetizer or cold weather meal. Because soup + bread + cheese is the only way us Chicagoans are going to make it through this minus 30 degree weather.

I was just commenting to my coworker that I had been craving FOS. This post is a sign that I need to make it again soon!
