Unless you’re one of those weirdos who has never eaten at McDonald’s (kidding, kind of) chances are someone, at some point, has purchased you a $1 apple pie. Well, this recipe for Healthier Apple Hand Pies is like the guilt-free version of those!
Who knew that you could use egg roll wrappers to create just a delicious and creative dessert?! When I saw this recipe on Dashing Dish, I knew I just had to give it a try. Just as I expected, they are completely satisfying and an amazing apple dessert recipe that won’t make you feel guilty.
Lighten things up this fall and make these Healthier Apple Hand Pies … they only take about 10 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to cook!
Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped into very fine cubes
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pinch of nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar or baking stevia
- 1 teaspoon sugar-free maple syrup or honey
- 4 egg roll wrappers
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients but egg roll wrappers.
- Place foil on a baking sheet and spray with non-stick spray. Working one at a time, lay out an egg roll wrapper and fill it with apple mixture. Using a finger, wet the wrapper on all sides to seal. Fold the wrapper over in half lengthwise and use a fork to seal around the edges.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers.
- Bake for about 15-18 minutes or until lightly brown on top. Dust with additional cinnamon and sugar.
