That’s where this recipe comes in. I didn’t call it How to Make the Easiest and Best Christmas Cookies ever. They really are super duper easy. And they really are the best cutout sugar cookies to make in a pinch.

These Christmas cookies use a pre-made sugar cookie mix, but no one will ever be able to tell once they taste them. The secret is one special ingredient: almond extract! Seriously – just 1 teaspoon of almond extract added the mix gives these cookies amazing flavor. My family won’t accept sugar cookies any other way.

How to Make the Easiest and Best Christmas Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 package sugar cookie mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract, divided
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Mix together the sugar cookie mix, butter, egg and flour. Once thoroughly mixed to form a dough, add 1 teaspoon of almond extract and mix to incorporate.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out the dough using a floured rolling pin. Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  4. Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes or slightly brown.
  5. Cool completely. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract to make an icing and ice away!

    Now the secret is out... these really are the best. I bake mine about 10 minutes because my cookie eaters are softies. Love you.
