Savory Sweet Potato Toast is a healthy snack idea that’s ready in as little as 10 minutes.
If you guys haven’t heard of sweet potato toast, it’s pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. Because it isn’t bread. But it’s still toast. Amazing!
Sweet potato toast is essentially sliced sweet potatoes that are cooked in the toaster, so no oven required! Because it’s hot out, and who wants to preheat the oven in the summer!? No one. That’s who.
Since I’m not much of a sweets person, I created three savory versions of sweet potato toast recipes.
Cheddar Bacon Chive sweet potato toast can be eaten for breakfast, snack, or pretty much any time. The combination of cheese, bacon and chives is one of my favorites, so this on was a no brainer.
Pizza sweet potato toast is a customizable recipe because you can add any pizza toppings you want! Start with sauce and cheese and go to town.
Barbecue chicken sweet potato toast is probably my favorite variation. The combination of the sweetness of the sweet potato, with tangy barbecue sauce, cheese and chicken is a winner. Perfect for using up leftover chicken.
The trick of how to make sweet potato toast is slicing your sweet potato to the correct and consistent thickness. This will determine how long you will need to toast it.
If you search sweet potato toast on Pinterest, there are a boat load of options like topping them with peanut butter, yogurt, fruit … you name it!
I love that this snack takes just minutes to prepare without having to use the oven. To save even more time, you can slice your sweet potato up to one day ahead of time and store them in an air tight container in the refrigerator. If you’re storing them for longer than overnight, store them submerged in cold water in the refrigerator.
